Visual identity for the Narrowboat, Gadget. Working with traditional narrowboat aesthetics and signwriting methods,
to create a playful take on the name ‘Gadget’.
To give the identity a contemporary twist, hidden easter eggs were designed into the name. for example. The traditional looking flourishes become SB cables, further playing on the notion of the word Gadget.
On the project, I had the privilege of working closely with signwriter Andy Russell. It was amazing to watch the identity come to life through every brush stroke. The skill and artistry shown by Andy were mind-blowing everything was sketched and handprinted by hand!
